NTU Taekwondo Club – Secretary for Nanyang Technological University Taekwondo Open Championship 2024

  • NTU Taekwondo Open Championship (TOC) is an annual student-organised tertiary-level Taekwondo competition that welcomes 400 participants from junior colleges, polytechnics, and universities in Singapore.

  • Managed and streamlined administrative processes and oversaw email and phone correspondence.

  • Facilitated effective communication and coordination of efforts of different stakeholders.

  • Provided crucial support to the chairperson, contributing to the development and execution of strategic plans to enhance the overall success and impact of the competition.

JUNE 2022 - NOVEMBER 2022

Zhi Yuan Financial Advisory – Digital Marketing Manager and Personal Assistant

  • Ideated easy-to-understand posts that break down complicated insurance policies, plans, and financial concepts to help clients gain financial literacy.

  • Performed copywriting to go along with the images to encourage clients to read them.

  • Liaised with over 100 clients and served them professionally.

Advisors Alliance Group – Summer Intern

  • Gained foundational knowledge in the financial services sector, focusing on risk planning, wealth management, and portfolio design.

  • Collaborated with a team of eight interns to complete three major assignments, enhancing team coordination and project management skills.

  • Contributed to the creation of digital content by editing two videos, demonstrating proficiency in multimedia tools and communication.

  • Developed and launched a website using Wix, showcasing skills in web design and digital marketing.

Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre — Tray Return Advocate

  • Instructed patrons on the proper use of a high-tech tray return machine at the newly opened hawker centre.

  • Proactively encouraged self-service tray returns among customers.

  • Assisted in reducing cleaners' workload by clearing dirty plates and sorting them effectively.

  • Conducted stock-taking at a Courts Megatex event, ensuring accurate inventory levels.

My Volunteering Experience

September 2020 - December 2020

Volunteer at Brighton Connection

I volunteer on an ad-hoc basis for Brighton Connection, a non-profit Social Service Agency and charity that renders assistance to children, families and seniors in the MacPherson estate. 

Some past efforts include:
- Doorknocking and checking up on residents
- Asking if they require financial assistance
- Distributing cheques and goodie bags

Mentor at Beyond Expectations

Beyond Expectations is a mentoring programme started by a group of NUS students. It is backed by Beyond Social Services, a charity dedicated to helping children and youths from less privileged backgrounds break away from the poverty cycle.

As a team, we mentor 15 secondary school youths from underprivileged backgrounds in the Redhill/Jalan Bukit Merah area. We gear them towards success by tutoring them in their academics, developing their character, and increasing their awareness of the world around them. 

As a team, we plan various experiential and educational hands-on activities based on their personality and interests. 


Past activities include:
- Growing microgreens
- Playing team-bonding sports
- Engaging their creative side by doing arts and crafts 
- Distributing food aid to the elderly in their neighbourhood 
- Learning about the recycling system and the environment
- Understanding migrant workers
- Getting the youths to care for their own well-being by utilising a wellness journal

I am attached to a 15-year-old boy to journey closely with him.

April 2020 - Present

Volunteer at Samaritans of Singapore

Samaritans of Singapore provides emotional support to those in crisis, thinking about suicide or affected by suicide. I am part of a team of volunteers who talks to clients who message us on Facebook Messenger. I apply skills such as listening and responding empathetically when talking to clients about their problems. I volunteer for a four-hour shift every week, where I will chat with three to four clients.

Re:Mind Marketing Committee

Re:Mind is an organisation started by youths to raise awareness about mental health in Singapore through community and school outreach events.

I am Head of the Marketing Committee, where I manage a team of designers who design informative and eye-catching posts about mental health and well-being to be posted on the Instagram page to 900 over followers.

January 2020 - Present

Youth Corps Singapore - Mental Health Cluster Member

As a cluster, we plan events to educate Singaporeans and raise awareness of the mental health scene.

I was also a member of the Digital Content Creators team for a short while. I assisted the publicity heads in brainstorming topics and post ideas for the cluster's Instagram page. We had to develop a detailed content calendar for two months, where we planned two to three posts for each week.

Volunteer at the Standard Charted Marathon 2019

Green Nudge Singapore is a social enterprise with an environmental focus that aims to reduce the amount of waste generated in society. I helped their organisation at the Standard Charted Marathon in 2019 to remind runners to be environmentally friendly.

Before the start of the marathon, I reminded runners to bin their litter responsibly during their run. After the marathon, I also encouraged runners to segregate their waste for recycling and composting at various designated sustainability points. At the end of the race, more than 500 kg of banana peels, 4,500 bottle caps, and 23 bags of recyclables were collected and diverted from being disposed of as waste.

Youth Corps Singapore - A Walk Around Little India

I led a group of five primary school kids from TOUCH Young Arrows (a service of TOUCH Community Services) around Little India for a walk to educate them on the culturally-rich place. I also talked to them and befriended them.

Youth Corps Singapore - YOLDEN Physiotherapy

Every Saturday, I would go down to Moral Home for the Aged sick to befriend the elderly there. With a team of 20 over volunteers, we would do gentle physiotherapy exercises with the elderly to get them to stay active. We also brought them out for an excursion at the nearby hawker centre so that they could enjoy a nice lunch outside.

Together with four other classmates, we went down to St Luke's Eldercare Tampines to clean their fans, gym equipment, tables and chairs during our vacation.

Engaged the elderly from THK Bedok Radiance Seniors Activity Centre

Thye Hua Kwan's Senior Acivity Centres provides the elderly with an avenue for social, recreational and active ageing activities. 

Together with four other classmates, we planned a game that we played with 30 elders at the Bedok branch. We also befriended them by chatting with them.

Cleaning of Apex Harmony Lodge

Apex Harmony Lodge is the first and only purpose-built Lodge for Persons with Dementia in Singapore. Together with my teacher, classmates and parent volunteers, we headed down to the centre to clean their wards and corridors on a Saturday.

Hamper making for needy families

Together with my other classmates, we donated non-perishable food items and hand-packed two food hampers. Our school then distributed the hampers to needy families in Tampines East to bless them as Chinese New Year was coming up.
